As of August 23rd flows from Anderson Ranch Dam are clipping along at 1,800 cfs. With a full Lucky Peak Reservoir and storage in Arrowrock still being drained, there’s a good chance that it will be time to throttle back on Anderson Ranch sometime around Labor Day.
The flows in 2007 were at 1,600 cfs well into September and that was driven in part by the irrigation demand on the entire system that necessitated Anderson Ranch water for the farms because the other reservoirs were drained.
In ample water years it is common to see flows drop in late August. There is usually enough water in the downstream reservoirs, and water managers like to hold as much water in Anderson Ranch as possible.
