South Fork Boise River

From Boise National Forest news release:

Open areas include the South Fork Boise River, downstream from the Anderson Ranch Dam.  Recreation along the river corridor is open to day use only, and overnight use is prohibited.  Floaters are advised that the river has substantially changed with new channels, flows and large trees in the river.  

UPDATE OCTOBER 24:  The shutdown ended but with three weeks of field time lost to fire rehabilitation efforts.  The closure continues.

October 8, 2013 — The Area Closure for the Elk and Pony Fires was last updated September 13, 2013.  The text version describing the closure area is at http://www.inciweb.org/incident/article/3616/21514/.  There is a detailed map here (6.4 MB .pdf).

As of today (10/8/13) the closure applies to the lands and waters outside of the open roads along South Fork Boise River road and other roads under the jurisdiction of the Mountain Home Highway District.  In other words you can drive the roads but not leave the road to access the South Fork Boise River to fish the section between Anderson Ranch Dam and Danskin Bridge.

The Mountain Home Highway District have the roads from Highway 20 to Anderson Ranch Dam and to the Cow Creek bridge.  These have been open since late August except for the period when the mudslides on September 12 affected the roads in several locations.  These slides between Anderson Ranch Dam and Danskin Bridge have been cleared.

We will report any change in status of the closure when we learn of it.  The current government shutdown compounds the closure of the area due to the effects of the wildfire and the landslides.
